Flossing helps to remove build up between teeth and particles that will stain your teeth. Just by flossing daily your teeth will look whiter instantly. Flossing also has an added benefit. Flossing daily removes plaque which may to contribute to heart disease. Flossing helps to lower the risk of heart disease and may add years to your life. Follow the American Dental Association's guidelines for establishing a daily flossing routine.
Eat Dairy Products
Eating a small amount of yogurt or cheese or drinking a small glass of milk after your meal will help to rebuild your enamel. Lisa Drayer M.A., R.D. says that the minerals from dairy products, namely calcium and phosphorous, help with enamel remineralization. Besides helping to rebuild enamel the calcium and phosphorous help to prevent cavities. Don't forget dairy after a meal to help with tooth whitening.
Chew Gum
Chewing sugarless gum after a meal helps to increase saliva production. The saliva in your mouth acts as a wash to get out particles in the crevices and tight spots between teeth. If you chew sugarless gum made with Xylitol, the Xylitol will help to reduce the Ph level in your mouth thereby reducing acid levels that may lead to stained teeth. Gum chewing does not replace your tooth brush. It is still necessary to brush at least twice per day.
Chomp on Fruit
Fruits and vegetables in their raw and crunchy state help to lift stains since they contain natural abrasives. Celery, apples and carrots are crunchy enough and have enough abrasive properties to clean your tooth enamel.
